Zo lang als ik mij kan herinneren luister ik naar muziek. Vroeger was dat veel Radio538, maar vooral heel veel Queen. Dat laatste vonden mijn ouders niet altijd even prettig. Op vakantie mocht er maar 1 cd mee (Made in Heaven) en dan werden er nog nummers over geslagen omdat ze ‘te hard’ waren of teveel gitaren bevatten .
Gelukkig ben ik altijd bezig gebleven met muziek luisteren, ongeacht wat een ander er van vond en vind!

Zaterdag ben ik naar mijn eerste Queenfanclubdag geweest!

Ik heb me daar ook maar eens officieel aangemeld als Fanclublid, dat was ik namelijk nog steeds niet

Hoogtepunten voor mij waren de gesprekken met Peter Freestone, het T-Shirt wat hij voor mij signeerde en zijn kookdemo. (Foto’s volgen nog)
Heb ook (toen ik thuis kwam) gezocht op een boek van Peter Freestone, maar helaas nog niet het boek gevonden waar zijn recepten in staan. Die ga ik dus maar via de boekhandel bestellen!

Daarnaast heb ik natuurlijk weer veel te veel geld uitgegeven aan Queen-spullen maar dat had ik ook ingecalculeerd

Al met al een zware (moest eerst nog van 7 tot 10 werken) maar mooie dag.

Volgend jaar ben ik ook weer van de partij!

We Will Rock You Scores Biggest West End Week of 2008

Queen and Ben Elton’s long-running musical We Will Rock You has emerged the champion of West End shows in end of year figures released today.

The ‘rock theatrical’ show, which has already achieved the distinction of becoming the longest running entertainment at The Dominion where it has continued to play for over six and half years last week achieved the highest number of paid admissions in one week for any West End show in 2008.

In the New Year week, commencing December 29, We Will Rock You set a new weekly admissions record for the year, attracting over 20,000 ticket buyers across six days.

“It is a testament to the incredible word of mouth on the entertainment value of the show,” said a producer spokesperson. “There isn’t another new musical which has lasted as long as Queen & Ben’s show, and last week’s figures show that across the Christmas – New Year period it was the No.1 choice among theatre-goers”.

Delighted by the show’s achievement, show co-creator, Queen’s Brian May, today (sic yesterday 7 Jan) announced on his website he will join the cast for both of this Saturday’s performances.

On brianmay.com May writes: ‘I usually try to keep it casual, because really it’s all about me bonding with the cast and band and crew, and sharing a little bit of their load … but I always get stick from people saying “You didn’t tell us you were going to be there!” So this time, I’ll say it quietly but clearly … I WILL be there Saturday 10th, and I will be making a small appearance (or is it “apparition”?) in the matinee and evening shows. It’s not an advertised part of the show – it’s just a fun bonus, which happens about once a year … but it’s always a blast. It will be doubly exciting this time, since the last time I tried it, the lift got stuck, and I ended up in a very dark smoky cage under the stage for the whole of the solo in Bohemian Rhapsody. So we will be trying not to repeat that effect !!!’

‘This Saturday is WWRY Party day … we will be celebrating between shows, and afterwards, entering our 8th year of Rocking London in 2009, with The Greatest Show In Town !!! See ya there … let’s rock into the New Year.’

We Will Rock You’s Dominion run is presently booking through to October 2009.

Along with its West End residency the show will also go out on the road this Spring with a five-city regional tour beginning at Manchester Palace theatre on March 25, subsequently reaching Sunderland, Birmingham, Bristol and Edinburgh.

Wat wil ik graag terug zeg!

Ik ga toch zeker proberen om in de zomer een weekje Londen te doen!

Ik ben vooral een fan geworden nadat ik de musical heb gezien in augustus dit jaar. Hieronder een YouTube versie er van:

Het is dus ooit een keer professioneel opgenomen, dus nu nog wachten op een lek of op de dvd-release!

En het is het alweer een jaar geleden…

Al een jaar niet meer ‘gek’!

Wat zou ik dit soort dingen graag doen. Gewoon jezelf helemaal laten gaan en echt schijt hebben aan je omgeving en genieten!

En ook naar Queen + Paul Rodgers in Ahoy Rotterdam geweest!

Helaas geen van de mannen kunnen spreken, dus dan maar wachten op de volgende tour!

Vandaag (technisch gezien gisteren dus eigenlijk) naar QPR in Antwerpen geweest!

Nog tot 12 uur gewacht bij de uitgang in de hoop Brian, Roger of Paul te zien, maar helaas geen geluk gehad.

We gaan het 7 oktober gewoon nog een keer proberen!

En we kunnen beginnen met bloggen!
